Thought about going flying today... but I didn't.

The plane came available yesterday for this morning. The person that was going to have it occupied came back early so I considered reserving it taking to the skies today. But, I decided to pass, it was just too darn cold. The temperature at the time I would've been cranking the engine was forecast to be about 20 degrees F. The combination of thicker oil and decreased battery performance (not to mention the frozen engine components) would have made it really difficult to start. If you crank for too long, you could even burn out the starter.

Frost, the other potential problem to deal with, was likely to have been on the wings this morning. Frost can be difficult, if not impossible, to remove when it is 20 degrees F and no access to a warm hanger.

Plus, who wants to be outside in 20 degree weather?
